Palais Rouge is a red drawn toward the flame, a vermilion with orange at its heart. It iswarmer than Imperial Red and a good deal harder to wear badly. Across the quilting it neversettles, moving from coral where the facets rise to a full red in the folds beneath them.One skin is cut by hand for each bag, and the piece is carried by a single artisan from thefirst cut to the final stitch. The faceted line of the house geometry runs from the lock to thebase without interruption, aligned panel by panel. Padding is worked from behind and theface of the leather left free of visible seaming.The hardware is made in Italy, cast in solid brass, hand-finished and plated in 18-karat goldin the same Italian workshops. The monogram turn-lock is engraved by hand. Inside, tonalred suede lines the bag throughout. A shade that moves this much across its own surface isbest left to do so uninterrupted.
