Almandine takes its name from the deepest and most inward of the garnets. There is violet in the folds of the leather and a clear red only where the light falls directly, much as the stone behaves when it is turned in the hand. It is a shade for the evening rather than for the season, and it does not brighten with the hour.
Each piece is cut by hand from one skin of lambskin nappa, chosen for its fall as much as for its grain. The house geometry is drawn across flap and body, then aligned panel by panel so that every intersection closes with the accuracy of a mitred corner. The relief is padded from behind, and the surface of the leather stays unbroken from flap to base.
Our hardware is made in Italy, cast in solid brass, hand-finished and plated in 18-karat gold in the same workshops. The monogram turn-lock closes with a sound you come to recognise. Inside, the bag is lined throughout in tonal brown suede: this is one of the ten shades we line to match rather than to answer, because the depth is worth carrying through.Two interior pockets, divided by a suede partition.
