Esmerald is a jeweller’s green, deep and slightly blued, closer to an emerald seen through its own table than to one viewed across a case. The tone gathers in the folds of the pleated frame and lifts across the raised quilting, giving the bag the internal movement of a cut stone. It is the most costly shade in the collection to achieve and the one we are least willing to compromise on.
One skin of lambskin nappa is cut by hand for each piece. The faceted line of the house geometry is aligned by eye, panel by panel, and stitched by the same artisan who cut it. Padding is worked from behind so the leather is never broken by a seam and the colour carries the full length of the bag uninterrupted.
The hardware is Italian, cast in solid brass, hand-finished and plated in 18-karat gold in Italy. Gold has kept company with emerald for a very long time and we saw no reason to depart from it. Inside, tonal green suede lines the bag throughout, a half tone brighter than the leather, so the colour runs from the outside of the bag to the inside without a break.
