Truffle sits between brown and grey, with a faint olive cast that keeps it from ever reading flat. It is less obvious than black and warmer than grey, and far more interesting than beige. On quilted lambskin the tone moves between the two families it belongs to, according to the light it is given.
One skin is cut by hand for each piece and set into the house geometry, aligned panel by panel so the faceted line meets exactly at every intersection and closes at the base seam. The relief is padded from behind. It is the slower construction and the reason the quilting appears to rise from the leather rather than to have been pressed into it.
The hardware is made in Italy, cast in solid brass, hand-finished and gold-plated to 18 karats in Italian workshops. Against so muted a shade it gives the piece its single point of light outside. Inside, navy suede lines the bag throughout, one of the seven interiors chosen against the exterior. A neutral that spends its life between two colours is answered by one that has decided.
